Tu B’Shevat

Strange TreesThis evening begins the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat, the new year of the trees. In honor of this day, I created a new abstract art work within Photoshop that shows the colorfulness of the holiday. I hope to create more works in the future that also deal directly with the Jewish holidays, like my Rosh HaShanah card. This work was created January 24, 2005. New Year’s card

Front for Rosh Hashanah, New Year's cardSince today is the first day of the secular year, I have decided to show you a work I created for the beginning of the Jewish year. This past year my wife and I decided to create a New Year’s card of our own in honor of our first Rosh Hashanah as a married couple. According to Jewish tradition, Rosh Hashanah (head of the year) is the anniversary of the birth of the world. The idea behind the work is to portray the creation in an artistic, yet interesting way. My point of reference specifically is the first day when light and dark were separated. The work was created on September 7, 2004. Click through to see a larger version of the work.
