ChildLikeMinds.com logo

ChildLikeMinds.com logoThis logo was created as part of a continuing project to design a blog for my wife and some friends. The site is to be based around books so I sketched some books as shown using a stylus in Flash. The logo was kept purposely colorful and lighthearted so it could connotate a childish tone. The work was created October 25, 2004. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

Another strip experiment

another stripI’m getting kind of regular here… I decided to have another go at the Flash drawn web comic that has no name. My wife actually helped write most of it and i think it turned out quite funny, but feel free to tell me what you think. Also, if you want to find out the latest everyday, now would be to time to try out an RSS feed reader. If you have Firefox, its part of the package and as you can see on the side of this side you can add me to your My yahoo and bloglines very easily. Feel free to make schleifstein.net part of your regular routine, trust me, its worth it. The work was created February 13, 2005. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

A strip experiment

a new stripI thought I’d try my hand at the latest craze. I created my own web-comic. This took a surprising amount of time, but I think it turned out okay for a first try. Feel free to leave a comment on how you like it. By the by, the past few days included a short trip out of state to avoid the Mardi Gras morons and unfortunately I had no internet access til today. Also, I have re-enabled my comment moderation system, because while I was away I was flooded with over fifty comment spams. Almost forgot, why is this in the Flash category? I actually drew this comic in Flash by hand using a stylus. The work was created February 9, 2005. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

My head is spinning

Spinning headI created this head spin animation as part of an intro page for a site based around the Facial navigation project. The work was created but taking a series of digital camera photos of my head. I held the camera an arm’s length out from my head and snapped the series around the face. Then I imported the pics into photoshop and fiddled with them to get the images to have the blue color scheme look. Next I brought them into Flash and preformed a Trace Bitmap action on each frame to smooth out the images and lower the filesize. This created this reletively simple looking animation that took hours to prepare. The work was created during the Spring semester 2003 at UNO. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

Gonna make it!!!

Smokey GlassDamn, not gonna make it… Any way here’s the post for what is now the day before yesterday. I took some really cool video of my brother-in-law and brought it into flash to create this animation. The video is of BIL blowing smoke into a half-drunk wine glass and puling it away to allow the smoke to dissapate. Basically I drew the contour of each frame and layered some extra painted colors to give a sense of ground to the animation. This took a lot longer than I anticipated because I haven’t created one of these in a while. The work was created January 22-23, 2005. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

What’s that sound project?

Sound projectThis sound project is not really an example of the greatest Flash animation, but it is a sample of the creative process and ways to integrate sound as a design element. The project involves three short sounds in repetitive loops. The project allows the user to raise the volume of each individual sound and to change the pan of the sound. The work was created during the Spring semester 2001 at UNO. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

Figure animation

Figure projectI created this interactive animation as a project based on the human figure. The project was to be an abstract that would give the viewer a sense of parts of a general figure. The idea came to me while watching a super bowl commercial of all things. Be sure to click through all five parts of the piece which included intuitive navigation. The work was created during the Spring semester 2001 at UNO. Click through to see a larger version of the work.
