Here I have an interesting scene with a man-made waterfall and the sign that does nothing to keep people from climbing on it. As I came across this image in my iPhoto directory, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the knowledge of how useless the sign must be on any day when others are around. I seem to be in a nature rut lately so I will be posting some city shots in the future. On a side note, I have also decided to switch my book store status to Barnes and Noble in the near future based on their shipping policies and stock, so please wait to purchase anything through this site for a couple of days. This evening begins the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat, the new year of the trees. In honor of this day, I created a new abstract art work within Photoshop that shows the colorfulness of the holiday. I hope to create more works in the future that also deal directly with the Jewish holidays, like my Rosh HaShanah card. This work was created January 24, 2005. Click though to see a larger version of the work.

Again with the tardiness, I have got to get on the ball with my posting. No excuse, minus two letter grades! This work was created as an experiment within on of my sketchbooks. I was trying to get a small image to appear using pen and ink and working purely with pointillism. As I created the work the figure began to appear. The work was created Febuary 21, 1999. Damn, not gonna make it… Any way here’s the post for what is now the day before yesterday. I took some really cool video of my brother-in-law and brought it into flash to create this animation. The video is of BIL blowing smoke into a half-drunk wine glass and puling it away to allow the smoke to dissapate. Basically I drew the contour of each frame and layered some extra painted colors to give a sense of ground to the animation. This took a lot longer than I anticipated because I haven’t created one of these in a while. The work was created January 22-23, 2005. Click through to see a larger version of the work.

Damn looks like I’m going to be late with my post tonight as I’m DJing an old lady dance!!
I promise I’ll post twice tomorrow.
edit:
Reason i was off was i was DJing for the ‘female dog’i-est group of middle aged wome all working as sales people for some company possible with inns and maybe brook in their name and having something to do with selling wrapping paper… we had technical difficulties durring the evening with our karioke machine amoungst other things, plus they all ganged up on the other dj and myself once we started playing regular music again. A person would yell at us to turn off a song even when we had a nice group on the dance floor. I don’t know… I hate dj-ing with a passion is all i can really say i guess… argh!
rant over
I am trying to experiment with more of Photoshop’s abilities when cropping and posting photographs. In this post i adjusted the contrast and brightness as well as preformed some other minor edits to improve the look of the photo without changing the image too much. The photo was actually taken at my wife’s request. She suggested the subject matter and I think the work turned out great. I really like how the path and the shadow mimic each other to interact across the scene. This mixed with the activeness of the leave covered ground contributes to a pleasing piece. Today I decided to create a Photoshop project in a way that would allow you so see my abstract development process. At each step I added a new layer on top of the last and created an image of each step which you can few in series on the larger version page. I wanted to display the creative process here so you could participate in my art creation. I hope you enjoy this as I may repeat the process in the future. This work was created January 20, 2005.
